In order to succeed in the cut-throat Australian SME landscape of 2013, it is vital to always be on the lookout for ways to improve the efficiency of your enterprise and compete against larger organisations.

According to the SME Association of Australia, 316,850 new enterprises opened in Australia during the 2007-08 financial year. However, four years later in June 2011, just 48.6 per cent of those small businesses were still in operation.

The good news is that confidence amongst Australian small businesses is generally on the rise.

The March 2013 MYOB Business Monitor found that 26 per cent of SME owners and managers in Australia are now predicting that the domestic economy will improve over the next 12 months.

At the same time, 58 per cent of participants in the MYOB study indicated that their enterprise had seen a steady flow of revenue during the past year.

However it is important not to let data like that lull your organisation into a false sense of security, as Australian SMEs will still need to be on their game in order to survive through 2013 and beyond.

There are several techniques that your business can employ in order to compete with more established organisations and turn the tide in your favour.

Capitalise on every lead

SMEs face a different set of challenges in comparison to larger organisations. They are often short staffed and under resourced, with employees required to wear multiple hats and perform various roles.

There will be times when the office is unmanned, and when there is no one available to answer a customer’s call. However, this is no excuse not to capitalise on every potential prospect.

With Delacon’s Missed Call Alert system, you can ensure that every call made to your enterprise is tracked, and the relevant information relayed to an employee who can follow up the enquiry.

This information – which includes the caller’s phone number and a .WAV file recording of the call – can prove an invaluable asset in ensuring that you can capitalise on every prospect.

Deliver a personalised service

Instead of focussing on what your SME lacks in comparison to larger organisations, focus on what you can offer that other businesses cannot.

By their very nature, many larger organisations are unable to deliver a service that is personalised and adapted to the needs of their customers. SMEs need to be aware of this fact and use it to their advantage.

Your SME should endeavour to go above and beyond for consumers, making the customer a key focus at all times. This will help build positive word of mouth and repeat business.

Make the most out of a limited marketing budget

Obviously smaller enterprises are going to have a smaller marketing budget compared to larger competitors, which is why it is necessary to allocate these resources in the most efficient manner possible.

Delacon’s Phone Lead Alert system can help you determine the exact ROI of each marketing initiative that you embark on, and is therefore an excellent tool for SMEs.

With a Phone Lead Alert system, you will be able to identify the exact source of each call made to your enterprise. This will allow you to redirect your budget only to those marketing initiatives that are generating real leads for your business.

Furthermore, you will also be able to analyse which keyword search terms are resulting in phone calls to your enterprise – allowing your enterprise to maximise SEO campaigns and make better use of your limited resources.

Streamline customer communications platforms

Many customers opt for larger organisations over SMEs because they enjoy how easy it is to contact the larger enterprise. Your SME should therefore be on the lookout for methods of streamlining customer communications, in order to make it easy for prospects to get in touch.

For example, placing a Touch-To-Call icon on your website gives customers an easy access point and a simplified way to contact your SME, potentially improving your sales conversion rates.

Similarly, investing in Speech Receptionist technology ensures that all incoming phone calls are answered in a consistent, professional and timely manner, similar to how they would be at a larger organisation.

Successful SMEs are enterprises which are able to offer the professionalism and convenience of larger organisations, while at the same time distinguishing themselves through improved and personalised customer service.

By implementing a few basic initiatives within your organisation, you may find your enterprise is soon not only surviving, but also thriving in a competitive business landscape.

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – 17th April, 2013 – Delacon has launched its Phone Lead Alert enterprise-level call tracking solution in Singapore and New Zealand, providing marketers in these countries with an advanced solution to monitor their return on marketing investment.

Singapore and New Zealand businesses, SEO/SEM agencies and digital agencies now have a sophisticated way of tracking all incoming calls generated by their marketing activity and specific campaigns. Phone Lead Alert is one of the world’s most sophisticated intelligent call tracking programs, integrating seamlessly with leading analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Omniture, Google Adwords, Acquisio as well as CRM applications like Salesforce.

With easy set-up that can be live within 24 hours, the solution manages all incoming calls with advanced call management, enabling marketers to capture information that relates to actions before, during and after a telephone call is made. Its market-leading features include a call feedback questionnaire that captures real-time sales conversion information including each sale’s value and call recording which can be used for operator training and testing call scripts.

Delacon’s CTO Michael Center said that Phone Lead Alert provides significant benefits previously unavailable to marketers in these regional locations. “The benefits include increased marketing ROI, the ability to fine-tune and refine marketing strategies, never missing a lead, improved conversion, efficient resource management, enhancing call handling and improved customer service capabilities.

“Marketers working with these countries can now make informed decisions and create marketing strategies backed by real business intelligence; reducing marketing costs and letting them reach key targets more efficiently, while backing their campaign decisions with real, predictive data for optimum results,” said Center.

Call tracking enables online marketers to track customer phone calls back to each caller and their buying activity, so marketers know which initiatives are driving contacts and sales. It provides businesses with answers to questions such as whether web marketing phone leads are generating sales, if online campaigns are delivering desired call conversion rates; where callers are located and what online behaviours lead to a call.

The answers to these and other important questions about ROI from website and wider online marketing have previously been difficult or impossible to obtain. By having the answers to these all-important questions via Phone Lead Alert, regional Asia-Pacific marketers can make smarter, informed decisions on allocating their available budgets for maximum returns.

For more information, visit our New Zealand www.delacon.co.nz or Singapore www.delacon.sg websites, and call us on for a demonstration of Phone Lead Alert.

Acquisio’s market-leading pay-per-click management tools synchronise with industry-standard search marketing programs to optimise marketing campaigns for both online and offline conversions.

New Call Tracking Solution Delivers Complete ROI Information for Marketers
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – 8 NOVEMBER, 2012 – Delacon’s Phone Lead Alert enterprise-level call tracking solution can now integrate seamlessly with the popular Acquisio SEM tracking and metrics platform, creating a total package for marketers searching for an all-encompassing call tracking solution.

Phone Lead Alert integrates seamlessly with leading analytics platforms including Google Analytics, Google Adwords and now Acquisio; and is one of the world’s most advanced intelligent call tracking programs. Acquisio’s pay-per-click management tools synchronise with industry-standard search marketing programs to optimize marketing campaigns for both online and offline conversions.

With this integration, Acquisio platform users now have sophisticated and complete tools for campaign performance measurement. The synergy between Delacon’s and Acquisio’s leading platforms enables customers to track and capture an incredible amount of information about phone conversions that hasn’t previously been readily available.

“Marketers can now make informed decisions and create marketing strategies that are backed by real business intelligence; reducing marketing costs and letting them reach key targets more efficiently. Combining phone call tracking and SEM capabilities completely removes guesswork over marketing outcomes. By gathering data from every possible touch point, marketers can back their campaign decisions with real, predictive data for optimum results.”

After integrating Phone Lead Alert fully with Acquisio, Delacon client Dave Gillard of Tall Timba Consulting says that “Delacon’s call tracking technology is by far the most advanced and cost effective I have found in the 5 years since we have been established. All calls generated from our search engine marketing campaigns are fully tracked and this invaluable data is integrated into the Acquisio platform.

“Information about which keyword generated a call, and from where, is not only well represented in Acquisio’s dashboard and campaign performance reports, it then allows for accurate analysis of the return from your advertising spend, for example cost per lead, which gives rise to the most effective optimisation of campaigns possible.

“Another big bonus with the full integration is it allows you to create and automate the most comprehensive bid management rules and algorithms to optimise both ad position and campaign spend using Acquisio’s Automation and Optimization Tools. Our clients have been able to save money and find new growth opportunities while maintaining an edge over their online competitors.”

Call tracking enables online marketers to track customer phone calls back to each caller and their buying activity, so marketers know which initiatives (both online and offline) are driving contacts and sales. It provides businesses with answers to questions such as whether web marketing phone leads are generating sales, if online campaigns are delivering desired call conversion rates, where callers are locating their business information and contact details.

The answers to these and other important questions about ROI from website and wider online marketing have previously been difficult to obtain, if even possible. “By finally having the answers to these critical questions”, said Center, “marketers can now make better decisions about where to spend their available budgets for maximum returns.”

Using a Pay Per Click (PPC) strategy is one of the key concepts that organisations need to understand and value when determining their online strategy. Your PPC campaign cost needs to be considered in conjunction with any of your other advertising related costs when trying to understand your ROI advertising strategy.

An effective online campaign is only ever as good as the sales that are generated from it. With generated leads being 12 times more likely to result in a call versus an online query [Referenced from Webindiainc.com], it makes complete sense to have a call tracking solution that complements your PPC strategy.

Delacon’s Phone Lead Alert call tracking solution provides you with the insight that can help you maximize your ROI by optimising your advertising campaigns. You can identify where or which search engine your caller used, the keywords – both organic and paid, that resulted in that customer calling your business, the landing page from where the caller was prompted to call, as well as a host of other significant data.

This information is invaluable to your PPC strategy. You will be equipped with the metrics needed to create the most compelling and profitable campaigns driven by the data that Delacon’s call tracking provides.

If your business is one that relies on incoming calls, then a call tracking solution is an absolute necessity!

In addition to the invaluable insight into maximizing your ROI on your PPC strategy, Delacon’s call tracking solution also allows you to:
•	Record all of your incoming calls
•	Receive instant notification through SMS / email of the call details (includes caller id, date and time and the message as a sound file)
•	Call Whisper – which is an instant notification of the source of the lead before the call is connected to the customer (which the customer does not hear)
•	Real-time reporting that completely integrates with analytical platforms such as Google Analytics or Acquisio

Call now on 1300 990 999 for an obligation-free live demonstration of how Delacon’s Phone Lead Alert call tracking solution works. The live demonstration only takes about 5 minutes and is the most effective and convenient way to see how this solution can work for your business..

Many companies that have been established for some time have typically invested a significant amount of resources into a “branded” number. For e.g. CBA have a readily identifiable 13 2221 that forms part of their established brand.

The concept of call tracking and rolling dynamic numbers is at times met with resistance by customers and for very good reason – organisations are reluctant to have their “brand number” diluted.

However, part of the value proposition of implementing a call tracking solution is to understand objectively the value that advertising presents in the form of incremental sales.

Existing numbers are valuable primarily to current clients and for those potential clients who are already familiar with it.

The objective of online advertising campaigns is to reach new audience and convert – as such has less to do with the above scenario branded number familiarity.

To this end, rolling dynamic numbers can be placed on landing pages which isn’t the home page which again typically is where the “branded number” sits.

With call tracking, an organisation can determine the overall effectiveness of their advertising strategy including the efficacy of their existing “branded number” as well as the rolling dynamic numbers. The rolling dynamic numbers are associated with webpages that potential clients land on as a result of a non-branded SEO generated campaign or any other organic keyword / paid adword campaign.

Call tracking reports can then objectively provide the analysis that demonstrates which numbers are being called and which advertising drove the customer interaction.

Call Tracking in the last 12 months has been recognised by major organisations and digital marketers as core to the understanding effectiveness of online campaigns to converted sales. Recent studies from the US indicate that call tracking has resulted in more than 22% increase in sales and sales enquiries. In certain industries such as hospitality, insurance and personal services the increase was greater than 40%.

The main benefits to call tracking are increases in sales and more effective ROI on existing advertising expenditure. Understanding through call tracking which online campaigns generate the best and most effective sales interest (for both online and offline conversion) ensures complete visibility into customer intelligence and behaviours.

In order to provide some clarity into this growing industry we have listed some key questions that have come up most often:

What is call tracking?

Call tracking is the term used that identifies time and date of call, caller ID, the source of the call etc.

What is search keyword call tracking?

Keyword call tracking is the process by which exact keywords and the source which it came from can be identified that lead to inbound calls.

Can Call Tracking be used to track my online advertisements?

Yes this is the most fundamental feature to call tracking.

Who needs Call Tracking?

Any business that utilises search engine marketing and / or online advertising as a means to acquire leads and who prefers call based sales

Why is Call Tracking so important?

Typically this is about why a business would want to engage in doing more of what works and less of what doesn’t. Call Tracking identifies the strengths and weaknesses of your online campaigns in a complete and holistic manner.

What do I need to look for in selecting a good Call Tracking solution provider?

Essentially most vendors have access to all of the Tier 1 Telco carriers so the key thing to look for is a vendor that has search marketing expertise as well as an interface that delivers real time information and reports in a clear and concise manner. The vendor should allow customisable reports that are easily accessible and downloadable

If Call Tracking is so important then why aren’t more organisations doing it?

In the past the appetite for call tracking was not high as most companies concentrated their efforts on online campaigns with keywords that were historically cheap. These days costs associated with keywords and online campaigns have increased significantly, the imperative to optimise conversions by understanding which keywords were most effective has now become an effective tool in reducing costs.

Is there any way in which I can keep my existing number and still do the Call Tracking?

Yes, in most cases existing numbers can be “ported” in at little or no cost thereby ensuring a seamless transition for your existing and potential customers.
